What’s it all about?

RealAle.co.uk came about after a series of discussions between two old friends who also happen to be real ale enthusiasts. We talked about how the enjoyment of real ale was essentially a social pastime, how proper real ale pubs seem to be the kind of environment where you can nip in for a quick pint and end up talking to strangers, and how despite this inherent sense of ‘community’ surrounding real ale, there wasn’t really any kind of decent online community for like-minded individuals to talk about their shared passion. So after more discussion (and of course, many more real ales) we decided that we’d try to change that. And here it is – we hope you like it, enjoy it and will help us to grow it.

We hope to bring you articles of interest from all aspects of the world of real ale – from pub and beer reviews to interviews with the brewers actually responsible for creating your favourite tipple. We hope to build a real community here. We’d love to hear from everyone who shares our interest – brewers, publicans, enthusiasts – if you’d like to contribute to the site in any way then please get in touch.

Unlike other real ale sites you may stumble across on your digital adventures, RealAle.co.uk has no agenda, no bias, no vested interests and we aim to be as inclusive and wide-ranging as possible. This is a site for everyone to share their beery thoughts, views and reviews with people with similar interests. We’ll be growing the site in many ways and also welcome and appreciate feedback and ideas from our readers – so if there’s something that you think is missing, please tell us.
